For the summer 2023 season, our university had two different short-term programs headed to Asia. Throughout the planning process, the APA team was very responsive to the hopes, needs, and questions of the university faculty leaders and study abroad staff. The resulting program itineraries were not only what the faculty envisioned, but the local expertise and insight provided by the APA team helped add nuance and depth to the plans. The themes of the two programs were entirely different and APA didn't skip a beat in making both experiences truly wonderful--their versatile staff is a huge asset. Having worked with APA for three years, I have been impressed with their professionalism and compassionate approach. My program is a two-week short course during the summer, covering two cities in Thailand. We collaborated with APA in creating the itinerary, revisiting it after each trip to make improvements. As the Assistant Director of Education Abroad at the University of California, Riverside, I have had the pleasure of working with Asia-Pacific Academic (APA) to customize and coordinate two faculty-led education abroad programs. I highly recommend APA for its exceptional services in organizing international experiences and responding quickly to detailed faculty requests. For example, in only one week, APA created a three-city itinerary in Indonesia. Sharon Jiang and her colleagues have developed an outstanding formula for providing meaningful study abroad programs for college students, especially for short, ten day to two-week programs in which time and schedule are important. They have an ability to combine relevant company visits, talks by industry leaders, and visits to cultural sites that has enabled our students to obtain an understanding of the host country and the particular theme of the program. Often, they have located alumni who enhance the visits and presentations. They can provide the company contacts, or follow-up on the contacts the program has. They pay close attention to detail, whether it is the meals (always delicious) and restaurants (which are carefully selected to provide another flavor of the country) or the coordinated logistics including bus, train and plane transportation so that the program is on time, and meets its demanding schedule. Another innovation is the use of host country college students as local guides and facilitators. We have found them to possess very good English language skills, very engaging and knowledgeable, and, in many cases form bonds with our on students that continue after we return home. Overall, The APA team is very flexible; takes into consideration the needs of the program; plans for breaks where appropriate; and, makes sure we get to experience as much of the country as possible in a very short time. If you are planning a program in Asia, I highly recommend you consider APA.

I had the pleasure of working closely with Biying and her team at Asia-Pacific Academic (APA) in creating a very successful study abroad trip to Japan for my Journalism and Mass Communication students at Texas State University in June 2019. In fact, I worked with them for more than a year to plan every step of the 11-day trip. Their expert knowledge of our primary destinations in Tokyo and Kyoto were crucial in creating the perfect study abroad trip for my students. My students wrote travel essays and feature stories, and created photo slideshows and short videos, which have been posted on the class Word Press site: www.sjmcjapan.com. The APA team was with us for our daily excursions to an international university, a public relations firm, a news bureau and numerous cultural site. But with a big trip like this and with thorough planning, sometimes things don't happen as one plans. Still, I loved working with the APA team to make adjustments to the schedule when necessary and appreciated their flexibility and recommendations to ensure a successful trip. I hope to work with them in the future for another trip to Japan.

I have worked with founders of Asia-Pacific Academic (APA) since 2017 in my two undergraduate study abroad China programs at Kelley School of Business at IUPUI. In each of the programs, founders of APA served as program providers to coordinate schedules and provide onsite logistic support. North Dakota State University is among the first group of American universities that work with the APA team.  We have done faculty-led short-term study in China trips with them for eight summers, and we are always very impressed by the professionalism shown in the APA team.  The team works tirelessly with us at every stage of the program, including student recruitment, itinerary design, travel arrangement, company visits, and cultural tours.  Our trips normally include company visits, business seminars, and cultural tours in multiple Chinese cities (e.g., Shanghai, Suzhou, Hangzhou, Xi’an, and Beijing).  The APA team has always worked closely with us to customize the itinerary. The APA team is also happy to design side trips beyond the main program.  With their help, we have done some wonderful side trips to Guilin and Taishan. Everybody who has been on the program (my students, colleagues, and myself) had an unforgettable experience.  Many of us think that was a trip of a lifetime.  We highly recommend the APA team!

It is with great pleasure that I recommend Asia-Pacific Academic team to anyone planning to travel to China with students. I have had substantial experience with traveling with students and have found their work exceptional. With the APA team’s help, I traveled to China with students in the summer of 2019 and had a virtual immersion trip (due to the COVID-19 pandemic) in the spring of 2021. Both programs were a big success! The team listened to what I hoped to achieve, made insightful suggestions to improve the plan, and then implemented it beautifully. Everything was well-organized and we enjoyed all our visits. I was impressed with how flexible they were while we were on the ground in China. Recognizing that our group was rather adventurous with regard to food, they sought out different Chinese cuisines for us to try. One of the highlights for both the in-person and virtual groups were interacting with local college students that they selected for us to meet. Before we even landed at Incheon Airport, APA was messaging us to make sure we knew what to do and where to go. This was the precursor for the seamless two-week program we were about to embark on. I was very impressed with how organized and thoughtful they were from the get go. APA tries to have a student from the host-country help guide the programs while in-country. This added so much life to the program. It allowed our students to engage more with the culture with someone from their generation. APA provided high-quality service to make sure that every need of ours was met, including arranging for our group to have an extra hotel room last-minute. We enjoyed the well thought out business site visits that APA planned, which included University of Minnesota alumni. As a staff leader, it was comforting to know that there were others in-country that I could rely on for anything. I would highly recommend APA to anyone who is looking to put together a short-term program in Asia!
