Dive into your study and life in US, especially in west coast of US, quickly by taking APA’s comprehensive pre-departure Orientation Program, including logistics set-up, dorm application, program orientation sessions, and meeting with the university officers online.

Students have a full course load of 12 credits, which are available in the engineering, business, sciences, humanities, and many other areas at both the undergraduate and graduate level in the daytime and evening.

University Introduction

  • University of California, Riverside (UCR) is a public institute that was founded in 1954. As a member of the world’s most prestigious public university system, UC Riverside utilizes a quarter-based academic calendar, and offers well-regarded undergraduate and graduate programs through three colleges and four professional schools.

  • UC Riverside has nearly 1,200-acre campus with more than 26,000 students and 1,100 faculty — among them two Nobel Prize winners and 15 members of the National Academies of Science and Medicine.

  • Riverside is in an ideal location for road trips, with Disneyland and Orange County within a 40-mile drive and Los Angeles about 60 miles away. Despite its setting in Southern California, UCR has a distinctly Scottish feel. All residence halls at the UC, Riverside are named for landmarks in Scotland, including Aberdeen-Inverness and Pentland Hills.

  • There are more than 300 student organizations to check out, including about 40 fraternities and sororities. Sports teams are supported by a kilt-clad bear named Scotty. Members of the student Pep Band don plaid berets and sashes as they play the “Brave Scots” fight song at sports matches, and students who play the bagpipes or drums can join the school’s Pipe Band as well.

Course

– Students can take 12 credits every quarter. The value of each course is about 3 credits.

– Should students want additional units beyond the 12 credits, there is a fee of $350 per credit for additional classes.

– 10 contact hours = 1 credit.

Housing

– UC Riverside offers multiple comfortable housing options, from studio to 2-bedroom apartment on -campus to all students. International students and U.S. students reside together which gives you plenty of opportunities for building global friendships.

– UC Riverside accommodations are designed for you to find a balance between privacy and social life that suits your own lifestyle. Living spaces within the accommodations are separated between individual rooms and common areas, with several facilities to share like mini kitchen, shower rooms, and toilets. Residents will also have access to a laundry room at all times of the day.

– All students residing in student accommodation are enrolled in UCR meal plan. There is a spacious cafeteria where health-conscious and delicious meals are served three times a day on weekdays.

APA recommends preparing your application as early as possible as UC Riverside programs close early and have little possibility to extend application deadline. In addition, the length of the visa application process can vary from several weeks to several months, so preparing you application earlier can give yourself more flexibility.
