University Introduction

Victoria University of Wellington (Te Herenga Waka) has about 125 years of rich history. It is one of New Zealand’s oldest and most prestigious tertiary institutions with a proud tradition of academic excellence.

Wellington is the geographic, political, and cultural heart of New Zealand. Within the city’s beautiful harbour setting, you’ll find a great quality of life, a strong global outlook, and a study experience to remember.

The city is compact and easy to get around, with great public transport. Most attractions, shops, cafés, and campuses are within easy walking or biking distance.

Wellington School of Business and Government is among just 1 percent of business schools worldwide that hold the ‘Triple Crown’ of international accreditations.

There are three central city campuses in Wellington.

Course

Students can choose 3-4 courses (45-60 points) per trimester. The value of each course is usually 15 points (3.75 US credits/7.5 ECTS) or 20 points (5 US credits/10 ECTS). One point typically requires about 10 hours of student work, including both scheduled contact time (lectures, tutorials, laboratories, workshops, etc.) and individual/group study.

The language of instruction is English.

Victoria offers more than 30 undergraduate and 140 postgraduate programs, across 120 different subjects.

Housing

Accommodation is guaranteed for international students if applying by application deadline.

There are 14 university accommodation optionsto choose from, including single room, twin share, shared apartment, studio, catered and self-catered options. All University accommodation is within easy walking distance to each campus and city center.
